Alora Macedon: A Brand New Wedding Venue

A New Tuscan-Style Private Estate in Victoria I’m So Excited to Photograph

There has been so much hype around Alora Macedon, and honestly, it makes complete sense.

As soon as this venue started popping up on Instagram and TikTok, my inbox lit up with couples asking about it. I’m already booked for two weddings here, and I cannot wait to finally photograph a full wedding day on the property.

This is a brand new private estate wedding venue in the Macedon Ranges, set across 13 acres, and it brings something genuinely different to the Victorian wedding scene.

It feels considered, architectural, and very design led, which is exactly why it suits my editorial approach to wedding photography so well.

If you’re planning an Alora Macedon wedding, or you’re still in the venue research phase, here’s everything you need to know from my perspective as a photographer.

Alora Macedon at a Glance

A private estate wedding venue in the Macedon Ranges

Alora Macedon is a private estate located in the Macedon Ranges, around 40 minutes from Melbourne.

The property spans 13 acres and has been designed to host full scale wedding celebrations where everything happens in one place.

The overall style is Tuscan inspired, with warm stone textures, structured gardens, and large open spaces that feel intentional rather than over-styled.

It is the kind of venue that does a lot of the heavy lifting visually, which is always a dream from a photography point of view.

This is a venue that really suits couples who care about aesthetics, experience, and flow. It feels elevated without being stiff, and luxurious without feeling untouchable.

Why there’s so much buzz around Alora Macedon

New venues always create excitement, but Alora feels different. It has been designed with weddings in mind from the ground up, not retrofitted later.

What I’m seeing from couples is a real pull towards venues that feel like a destination without leaving Victoria.

Alora taps into that perfectly.

It offers privacy, space, accommodation, and a strong visual identity, all in one location.

And not to mention it’s truly unique design with the glass atrium, there literally is nothing else like it in Victoria!

From my perspective, I love that it feels editorial without needing excessive styling.

Clean lines, open views, and stunning architectural features give me so much freedom to photograph in a way that feels timeless and intentional, and of course elevating your wedding photographs.

The Glass Atrium at Alora

The expansive Glass Atrium is the heart of an Alora Macedon wedding reception.

The Glass Atrium is the standout feature of Alora Macedon and where most receptions will take place.

It is a large (600 sqm to be exact!), light filled space with floor to ceiling glass and strong architectural structure with a sleek black frame and to top it off, polished concrete flooring creating a cohesive look.

From a photography perspective, this space is incredible. It allows natural light to flood in during the day and at night it transforms into a warm, energetic reception space without losing its sense of openness.

It works beautifully for long tables, shared feasting styles, or a more traditional reception layout.

The scale of the room means it can feel intimate with smaller guest counts, but still holds presence for larger celebrations.

Just outside of the Glass Atrium is a stone-covered courtyard dotted with tall umbrella’s and loungers, perfect for hosting your post-ceremony canape hour.

This space could also double as a ceremony location, with the Glass Atrium as the backdrop

Ceremony plans at Alora Macedon

The ceremony location at Alora Macedon is currently still under construction (as of February 2026). This is important to note if you are planning your wedding here in the near future.

From what has been shared so far, the ceremony space is being designed to complement the rest of the estate and will offer an all-weather glass enclosed space in a similar style to the reception atrium, as well as an outdoor area.

If you’re considering Alora, I recommend chatting directly with the venue team about ceremony options and timelines so you can plan with confidence. Get in touch with the Alora team at Hello@aloramacedon.com.au

Getting ready at Alora Macedon

On site accommodation for up to 25 guests, and a dedicated day room

One of the things I love most about Alora Macedon is how well it caters for the full wedding day experience.

There is on site accommodation in not one, but two houses.

The first is “The Cottage” which is a 4-bedroom house with modern features including a gas-log fireplace and sleeps up to 10 people. This space is perfect for groom-prep or family members or friends to stay after the wedding.

The second space is a 7-bedroom Tuscan style villa, “La Villa”, complete with a swimming pool surrounded by Romanesque arches and of course, sweeping views over the property.

La Villa has a very sleek design with nods to the Italian design including a Calacatta marble-topped kitchen bench.

This is perfect for couples who want to stay on the property and turn their wedding into a full weekend experience.

There is also a dedicated day room for brides to get ready in, which is such a win.

Having a space designed specifically for getting ready means better light, more space, and a calmer start to the day.

From a photography perspective, this makes such a difference to how the morning unfolds.

Why Alora Macedon suits the “Emma Hawkins” Editorial Photography Style

From a photographer’s point of view, Alora just makes sense

The layout is thoughtful, the spaces flow easily, and there’s room for the day to breathe without anyone feeling rushed or staged.

There are so many spots where couples can simply exist together for a moment and it already looks beautiful.

I don’t have to manufacture moments here.

Candid interactions photograph effortlessly, and when we do step into portraits, they feel calm, natural, and unforced rather than overly posed.

If you’re drawn to imagery that feels modern, timeless, and a little fashion-led without feeling try-hard, this venue really supports that.

I already know the weddings I have booked here are going to produce galleries that feel incredibly cohesive and true to the couples, which is always the goal for me.

Who Alora Macedon is best suited for

This venue is ideal for couples who want:

• A private estate wedding venue near Melbourne
• A Tuscan inspired setting without travelling overseas
• On site accommodation and a true one-location experience
• A venue that supports editorial, documentary style photography
• Space to create a wedding that feels personal and unhurried

If you’re planning a wedding that’s about atmosphere, design, and experience rather than ticking traditions off a list, Alora is absolutely worth a visit.

Final thoughts on weddings at Alora Macedon

Alora Macedon is one of the most exciting new wedding venues Victoria has seen in a long time.

The hype is real, and I genuinely cannot wait to photograph more weddings here.

If you’re in the early stages of planning and searching for a venue that feels elevated, intentional, and beautifully designed, this is one to put at the top of your list.

And if you’re planning an Alora Macedon wedding and looking for a photographer who approaches the day in a relaxed, editorial, and documentary way, I’d love to chat and hear what you’re dreaming up.

Some couples leave things to chance.

Claire is not one of those people.

Before we even talk about the architecture, the styling, or the dance floor that stayed packed all night, we need to talk about the fact that Claire hired not one, but THREE different Etsy witches to cast a very specific weather spell for her wedding day.

The brief? No rain. Partly sunny. Somewhere between 22 and 27 degrees.

And quite surprisingly, it worked.

If you’ve ever wished you could get married somewhere that feels like Italy — olive groves, rolling hills, wine, late-night feasts, pasta course after course, and that easy-going joie de vivre included — then you’re not alone and this is exactly how I wanted my own wedding day to feel.

One of the first things many couples tell me when they reach out is they want their wedding to feel romantic, intimate, soulful, and yes, Italian in spirit.
